just for girls

The internet has been responsible for many things, one of which is the burgeoning of many new businesses run from home.

This has been a particular boon for women who have looked to return to work following the birth of a child, or the packing off of young children to full-time education. More of a challenge, and invariably more rewarding than part-time PAYE employment, running one's own business brings challenges and exitement - and choosing working hours to suit.

But it can be a lonely life at the home computer, particularly when it comes to comparing notes and getting advice. To fill this gap, a non-profit-making organisation, Women in Busines has set up a branch in West Kent. And it's not just for self-employed businesswomen - employees are welcome too.

The group meets every third Thursday of the month, alternating between Pembury and Sevenoaks, and invites speakers to talk on a range of useful and relevant topics such as finance, selling, marketing and new technology. Members can also just chat to each other, providing support and encouragement. For more information, call 0845 838 6347 or visit www.wib-westkent.org.uk.
